1、aths C or enhanced studies, or applied as a consequence of a special entry program will NOT apply for the purposes of determining academic rank for one of these scholarships. 3.8 Assessment of leadership achievements and/or community service will be based on information contained in the scholarship

2、application AND the documentation provided by the applicant with their application. The University will make its own judgement about what constitutes the most meritorious cases. 3.9 The University of Queensland reserves the right not to offer all the scholarships available and to set a maximum limit

3、 on scholarships available for any one program or in any one faculty. 4. Offer Process 4.1 The number of scholarships available in each category will be determined each year by the Deputy Vice- Chancellor (Academic). 4.2 The University will conduct one Academic Scholarship round in December each yea

4、r, to select and award scholarships to students intending to commence their undergraduate studies at UQ in 2014, (or in 2015, where approval has been given to defer their tertiary place). A number of scholarships will be held in reserve for award in early January 2014 to International Baccalaureate

5、and interstate students whose results were not available in time for the December offer round. 4.3 Successful applicants will be officially notified in writing of the outcome of their applications as soon as practicable after the release of Year 12 results. Unsuccessful applicants will not be contac

6、ted. 4.4 The award of an Academic Scholarship will be conditional on the recipient taking up the offer of a place at The University of Queensland in 2014, unless approval to defer both the tertiary place and the scholarship has been granted. 4.5 Students, at the time of accepting an offer of an Acad

7、emic Scholarship, must accept the conditions of the scholarship and agree to provide any information relevant to assessing their ongoing eligibility for a scholarship. 4.6 The award of an Academic Scholarship does NOT guarantee a place at The University of Queensland. Scholarship recipients will com

8、pete for a place through the usual QTAC offer round process and QTAC will make offers to academically qualified and eligible students on behalf of the University in January 2014. 5. Named Scholarships Most academic scholarships are transferrable between UQ programs. However, a number of academic sch

9、olarships are fully funded by UQ faculties, private donors and/or industry sponsors. Recipients who are awarded a fully funded faculty, donor or industry sponsored named scholarship based on a nominated program of study, will be required to maintain continued enrolment in that program for the term o

10、f the scholarship, unless otherwise approved by the facultys Executive Dean. Named scholarships include the UQ Excellence (Colonel D E Evans Memorial) Scholarship and the UQ Excellence (A J Deakin Memorial) Scholarship. 6. Value and duration of scholarships 6.1 The value of an Academic Scholarship i

11、n 2014 will be as follows: i) Vice-Chancellors Scholarships - $12,000 a year payable for up to 5 years, conditional on continued full-time enrolment in an undergraduate coursework (including Honours) or subsequent postgraduate coursework program. ii) UQ Excellence Scholarships - $6,000 a year payabl

12、e for up to 4 years, conditional on continued full- time enrolment in an undergraduate coursework (including Honours) or subsequent postgraduate coursework program. iii) UQ Merit Scholarships - $6,000 for the first year of study only, conditional on continued full-time enrolment in an undergraduate

13、program. 7. Payments to students 7.1 Two payments a year will be made, each within one month after the Census Date in semester 1 and semester 2, to the value of 50% of the annual scholarship amount, subject to the student maintaining ongoing eligibility requirements. 7.2 Payments will be made direct

14、ly to students via electronic funds transfer to the bank account nominated by the student. 8. Full-time study requirements 8.1 To remain eligible for continuing payments, scholarship recipients must remain enrolled in a full-time study load of at least 6 units in semester 1 and 6 units in semester 2

15、. A student enrolling in less than a full- time study load is not eligible for a UQ Academic Scholarship. 8.2. The University will consider exceptional circumstances such as disability or serious medical condition, significant carer responsibilities and the unique circumstances of Indigenous Austral

16、ian students in determining inability to study full-time. 8.3 A student whose course load falls below 6 units in a semester, will have their eligibility status reviewed and will be required to show cause why their scholarship should not be terminated. Such students will be ineligible to retain their

17、 Academic Scholarship unless they provide evidence that there are exceptional circumstances that prevent them studying on a full-time basis. 8.4 Students who undertake a component of their studies while on overseas student exchange (UQ Abroad), or with another university through an approved cross-in

18、stitutional arrangement, will not be precluded from accessing the scholarship if this study will count towards the requirements of the program in which the student is enrolled. 9. Academic progress 9.1 The University will confirm a students ongoing eligibility for an Academic Scholarship on a twice-

19、yearly basis prior to payment in semester 1 and semester 2. 9.2 The University requires students holding an Academic Scholarship to achieve satisfactory academic progress, as set out in section 9.3 below. 9.3 Satisfactory academic progress means: (a) achieving a passing grade for all courses in whic

20、h the scholarship recipient is enrolled as at each semester Census date; and (b) for UQ Excellence Scholarship recipients: (i) achieving a grade point average (GPA) of at least 5 at the completion of the first year of study; and (ii) achieving a GPA of at least 5.5 in each semester thereafter. (c) f

21、or UQ Vice-Chancellors scholarship recipients: (i) achieving a grade point average (GPA) of at least 5.5 at the completion of the first year of study; and (ii) achieving a GPA of at least 6.0 in each semester thereafter. 10. Deferral and suspension of an Academic Scholarship 10.1 Scholarship recipie

22、nts may apply to have their scholarship deferred for up to one year only if approval to defer their tertiary place has been granted. Scholarship recipients who do not take up their university place in the year following an approved deferment of study, shall have their scholarship offer withdrawn. 10

23、.2 Once commenced, approval to suspend an Academic Scholarship will only be granted in exceptional circumstances and only for a maximum period of one year. Such circumstances must be explained in full to the satisfaction of The University of Queensland and must be supported by evidentiary documentat

24、ion eg letter from health practitioner, counsellor etc. 11. Termination of an Academic Scholarship 11.1 Academic scholarship recipients who fail to meet the full time enrolment and academic progress requirements set out in these guidelines will be required to show cause why their scholarship should

25、not be terminated. Such students will be ineligible to retain their Academic Scholarship unless they provide evidence that exceptional circumstances have impacted on their studies. 11.2 The University will also terminate an Academic Scholarship: (a) if the student has committed serious misconduct in

26、cluding, but not limited to, the provision of false or misleading information in their Application Form; or (b) if a recipient of a named scholarship transfers to another program not eligible for the scholarship, or (c) once the full value of the scholarship has been paid, or (d) if the student does

27、 not resume study at the conclusion of an approved period of suspension. 12. Appeals process 12.1 The award of an Academic Scholarship to selected recipients is entirely at the discretion of The Univ Research Services International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (IPRS) (International Applicants)

28、Applications should be submitted on the application form for International candidates available from the La Trobe International Office: email - internationallatrobe.edu.au or go to http:/www.latrobe.edu.au/international/apply/how-to/research International Postgraduate Research Scholarships (IPRS) ar

29、e funded by the Australian Government for full- time research in areas of research specialisation leading to Masters or Doctoral degrees. The purpose of the IPRS program is to attract top quality overseas postgraduate students to areas of research strength in higher education institutions and to sup

30、port Australias research effort. La Trobe University offers admission to Doctoral degrees and Masters degrees by Research in the Faculty of Health Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences, Science, Technology and Engineering, Business, Economics and Law, and Education. Eligibility IPRS are awarded o

31、n the basis of academic merit and research capacity to suitably qualified overseas graduates eligible to commence a higher degree (Doctoral or Masters) by research. The IPRS may be held concurrently with a university research scholarship and applicants for an IPRS are advised to apply for a La Trobe

32、 University Postgraduate Research Scholarship (LTUPRS). The scheme is open to citizens of all overseas countries (excluding New Zealand). Successful applicants will study in areas of research specialisation and, in most instances, will become members of a research team working under the direction of

33、 senior researchers. Applicants who have already commenced Masters or PhD candidature are NOT ELIGIBLE to apply for an IPRS to support the degree course for which they are already enrolled. Applicants for Masters candidature by coursework and minor thesis are NOT ELIGIBLE to apply for the IPRS. Appl

34、icants who are currently studying on a scholarship sponsored by AUSAID or have just completed study on such a scholarship are NOT ELIGIBLE to apply for the IPRS. Benefits The scholarships will cover tuition fees for a period of two years for a Masters research degree, and three years for a PhD degre

35、e. Holders of IPRS are currently provided with basic health care cover. No other expenses will be covered by the IPRS and applicants are advised to seek additional funding to cover living expenses. General The award is to be commenced no earlier than 1 January and no later than 30 June in the year f

36、ollowing application. Applicants must provide evidence that they have met the English language requirement as indicated in the publication Postgraduate Studies Prospectus for International Students. Either the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) OR the Test of English as a Foreign

37、Language (TOEFL) and Test of Written English (TWE) is acceptable. The cost of English language training is not covered by the IPRS. Recipients required to undertake an English language course must meet this cost themselves, and have completed the training in time to take up the IPRS by 30 June. In 2

40、ty Research Excellence Scholarship (MQRES) Scheme. It is consistent with requirements of the 2009-2011 Research Strategic Plan and the Macquarie University Research Excellence Scholarship (MQRES) Scheme 2014. These Conditions of Award outline eligibility requirements, entitlements and other requirem

41、ents for the award and retention of a MQRES scholarship. These conditions apply only to PhD candidates awarded a MQRES who commence at Macquarie in 2014. This scholarship is not transferable to any other institution. Details 1. Eligibility The MQRES has three components a living allowance (stipend),

42、 tuition fee support and other allowances. The letter of offer to the successful scholarship applicant will specify the individual availability of each component, and is based on applicant eligibility and scholarship availability. To hold an award a person must: a) be eligible for admission to Macqu

43、arie Universitys Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program. Admission to the PhD program in 2014 is dependent upon the successful completion of the Master of Research degree, achieving in Year 2 an overall average SNG (Single Numerical Grade) of 85, or equivalent. b) be enrolled as a candidate for a Doctor

44、 of Philosophy degree at Macquarie University (unless awarded a Macquarie University Indigenous Award) c) be enrolled on a full-time attendance basis, unless special approval has been granted for receipt of a part-time award d) if an international candidate, be in attendance on campus, unless otherw

45、ise specified in, for example, a joint doctoral supervision agreement (cotutelle), or varied by approval of the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research). e) not be in receipt of another award, scholarship or salary considered to be equivalent to or to duplicate the purpose and benefits of the scholarship.

46、An equivalent award is defined as an amount of money which is greater than 75% of the basic stipend rate. f) not have already completed a research degree or equivalent qualification at the same level g) not provide false or misleading information to the University. Where there is reason to believe t

47、his condition has not been upheld, the University reserves the right to reassess the students entitlement to the award. 2. Award duration The scholarship duration is a maximum period of 3 years full-time, or the equivalent part time. Periods of full time and/or part time study already undertaken tow

48、ards the degree or undertaken during a suspension of scholarship is called advanced standing, and will be deducted from the tenure of the award (refer to section 5.4).
